This pastel was painted on site at Chrissy Park, CA during the paint out the the 2019 Plein Air  Convention. Hundreds of other artists were set up all over the park. Good thing I had my wool fingerless gloves this day! I had just flown across the country and had been up over 24 hours. I was determined to make this iconic scene work even though the moist air was fighting me.  Some of the toughest weather elements give me some of my best work. That is why I love plein air painting.
